    Re: tafiti !!

If I'm in a hurry and need to get my search results fast, of course I wouldn't use it, but if I wanted to have some fun, why not Stick out tongue Hopefully Microsoft can add something really useful to it by the time it's released.

    Re: tafiti !!

    Hi everybody,
i'm a new member here.. and i like to share u my primary thought about tafiti,
i think tafiti image search engine is MUCH BETTER than google image search engine although it's NOT perfect..!!!
anyway, i'll use it everytime i wanna search 4 a pic.
also its web search results are GREAT... i like its feeds searches so much but i didn't like its news searches..
and it has a beautiful layout(user interface) but i think it's not too consistent..!!

about the tree view feature, ma 3reft asta5dema..!! can anybody tell me how to use it please..

    thanx,

    Enass M. A.

    Re: tafiti !!

    Hi All

Hi Miss.Enass Mo7ammad thanks for your question. you can use it by click on the circle(TreeView) at the left of the page then the search engin will work with the selected category.

    example :

1-from the left of the page select the image category by click.

2-at the top of the circle(TreeView)  there is a textbox that allow you to search for image only.

For the Search engin it's not a graphics only the search engin depending on the smart algorithms that get the best matches and i think the google have a best algorithms for a search engin and you can know that from the great matches that appear with google result.

    Re: tafiti !!

    Hi all,

thank u Mr. OSrawi very much 4 replying, but i know all of that, my question wasn't about search

categories or search results,it was how to use the tree view feature that is mentioned in:

    http://www.liveside.net/blogs/main/archive/2007/08/21/microsoft-launches-tafiti-search-and-silverlight-experiment.aspx

which allow the users to visualise the search results in a more "Web 2.0 / tags" kind
of way. The tree can be thinned as required by dragging the slider across the bottom.........

    thanx again,

    Enass M. A.

    Re: tafiti !!

I asked myself the same thing Stick out tongue

I guess the reason they added this feature was just to show us the power of Silverlight. Basically it's just eye-candy (effects to make us say "wow")

Other than that, it's not very useful. Let's hope they add some better features in the actual release that will give us some kind of incentive to use this Search engine.

    Re: tafiti !!

I Also think that this search is not useful, because, there is a rule in UI design that says: If the user using your application thinks how bad is the application, it means it is really bad, if the user thinks about how good is the application, it is also a bad sign, because it basically means that it is over hyped. The optimal state is when the user do not think about the application but about the task he wants to accomplish. Think of it, when you are using Google search, are you thinking about Google in terms of bad/good search engine or you think about the results ? and basing on this decide wheather Google of Tafiti is more practical...
