Hey guys, it has been soo long,

I am sure most of u saw FaceBook.com, Its great site FULL OF AJAX. there u can see AJAX, WebParts and very great things,, it sounds greaaaaaaat and perfect,, i dont know much about PHP but i think Ajax develpment in PHP is not as easy as it in microsoft.Net, though facebook.com shows an excelent implementation of ajax,, better than all microsoft websites,, we should make something MUCH better, dont u think so Jordevss ??

 

Wallahi man am sorry i love technology no matter php or .net but i can tell that i never saw such performance for a community site as facebook in asp.net!

We all love technology,, but also we all wish to be the best. I agree that facebook is the best community site,, and i am looking forword to make such a nice thing

We should do something like that on Silverlight. My idea, to have it fully visual. Basically just 3D cards of people connected to each other. you can click on somebody's card and them see thier info and stuff. It makes for a better navigation system.

 My name is Rakan Alhneiti.

 Would like to tell you that we hate you too (We: for PHP people). I think that your hate is unjustified because you dont know what PHP can do nor what you can do with it :D. I will get into details and start a fight over people's slavery to Microsoft!

Calling is slavery because they love microsoft products while hating other products because they are non-microsoft?!!!

I am not against microsoft, in fact i started my journey in development desktop and web applications using the .NET technology and i like it but these kinda hates get on my nurves ;)

 

Anyway, Talking about AJAX there are alot of powerful AJAX frameworks that can be used with PHP to develop responsive web applications. Just like the newly released Microsoft AJAX 1.0. Facebook's power is not because they used the XYZ framework or the XYZ programming language. The very important things that helped them developing this application is their ability to produce high quality software.

 

Regarding the note about doing something like them, i strongly agrree. We have to create some good products to enhance our reputation as Jordanian Developers and since this site is called JorDev i think this is what it should be doing.

 I have had a website before and i know how you feel Muhanad, that is, kasit.com but it's dead now. I have had people attacking me on my own website and this is how you felt about my post.

My objection was the title "Facebook, i hate PHP people". I mean why would you have a comment about Facebook and express that you hate PHP without even mentioning it in your own (Generaly speaking).  I like Microsoft and their products in general, although i am PHP/Java developer. But i dont act as a racist on other languages because my choice of programming language will definitely depend on the kind of application that i want to do. Thats what professionals do and this is not how beginners do :D

I became a member not to start attacking and all this crap but to become a member of the JorDev community and because i am a Jordanian Developer.

 

Execuse me for my comments but someone has to say the truth. Microsoft has the media power in it's hands thats why we all use Microsoft products.

Question for Topic starter:

1) Have you ever though of using Linux? (Think about it)

2) Have you ever developed applications using PHP?

If the answer is yes for the second question and you didn't like it's style i will have to understand your hate for PHP language but if you have't (which is mostly the case) then your hate is unjustified and "Slavery" would be the kinda word to use here.

I did not create PHP nor did i create Linux or any of the .NET products and dont really care what people use or love or hate. As long as i can get the job done i will make the right choice about what i am going to use regarding what other people think.

 Note: The note about your hosting was because when trying to add my first post i tried 10 times and the app kept giving me the "Database something something error" and this is how i judged your hosting :D. If your hosting is fine my broadband connection is excellent ;)

el mohem, maybe we got off to a wrong start. i understand why you can be a little mad from the title of this thread. im sure Bdair didn't mean it in a bad way at all.. he was just saying enno Facebook has made a great application 3ala PHP and that the .net community should make something like this as well.. maybe he was just jealous of facebook just kidding bdair

to answer your questions.. 1) i've never used Linux from a development or administrative stand-point.. i've only seen how it looks and operates. 2) yes, i've developed apps using PHP.. actually to tell you the truth, after seeing your presentation for KASIT.com, i went straight home and started learing PHP and MySQL However, i preferred .net a lot more.. bs like u said, we all have our preferences

we're all glad to have such a good programmer like yourself in our community, and we'll watch what we say against PHP

I recently started doing some things using .NET and especially ASP.NET and i think it's way is differant but nice. I have to go deeper into this good language. See i do not offend your beloved .NET :D

 I will be glad to meet you anytime if you ever come to JU to chit chat for a little bit.

Hi Jordevers! I'm a .NET developer as well as a PHP developer, so I can give you a comparition of both of them: First of all ASP.NET, I like it very much, I like it even more than PHP, because ASP.NET's architecture is that everything is abstracted from the developer, everything, every POST, GET, etc... is parsed by the framework and converted into objects. Going further, The Web Controls are wonderfull, and they too are sometimes are too abstracted. PHP on the other side is closer to hacking the protocol, if you are a hardcore JavaScripter, you could propably do something more efficient that ASP.NET's AJAX but in 10x the time.

One other thing, is that PHP is not mature as the .NET Framework, no namespaces, weak types support, no naming standards. It's very chaotic, and looks like it've been glued since php3 by insisting on keeping the backwards compatibility.

I could write twenty more paragraphs on comparing php with .net, but I think that bloggers around the world will tell you more.

Its seems there is a misunderstanding here, however first of all, I am a .net programmer and I like java, and c, I don't hate PHP, I think it need improvements and that’s all.

 

But, after all this is a .net user group for Jordan .net developers, we don’t say PHP people are not welcome, in fact they are, transferring knowledge between developers using different languages and technologies is a good thing, but with respect to Microsoft.

 

And about the "Facebook, I hate PHP people" thing, that is not racism, that is a joke especially that it’s under “7aki faadi!”, and if you read the first post Rakan you would have noticed that.

 

Also I can say this, the product sells it self, yes the media have a part, but ads alone are nothing, like UNIX, it has the best performance so it’s widely used for servers also its cheap, windows on the other hand is good for home users and user friendly so its widely used for home users and business, because its easier, I installed red hat 9, and I didn’t like it, because I wasted 36 hours installing my graphics card, and if it was a normal user, he would never install it.

 

The point here is, Microsoft products are widely used because it have good products, yes there is a lot of bugs and missing features, but among competitors its on the top 5 list, one of my dreams is to make an operating system that is the best and be a competitor to Microsoft, so instead of doing what open source guys do and keep saying that Microsoft sucks, do a better program and sell it or share it
