I had a hard time to setup all my programs on CarBotics in the car (it's quite cold). Therefore I looked for a solution to do all the work in a warm and cosy living room. I got this setup to work and I want to share my experience:
First attempt was to just run CarBotics connected to the USB of my Windows laptop using programs like Mirroid. That didn't work, I believe due to missing drivers. Nothing worked. So I decided to use a different attempt.
Downloaded and installed Android 9 to an USB drive ( https://www.android-x86.org/releases/releasenote-9-0-r2.html)
Started my laptop running Android (on most PCs there is a key to get the boot menu, in my case F12)
Downloaded the software for this adapter from manufacurers web page and installed it
Connected my old wired CarPlay USB dongle (get it from Amazon at €42.- if you don't have it)
Connected CarBotics to the adapter and waited for about a minute
Carbotics works (maybe a touch laggy, but better than sitting in a cold car).
Please ask for any additional info you need. I won't go into details if there is no interest in my "prove of concept".

As a side note, Connecting to PC is a troubleshoot step for those who cannot connect CP2D-4g out of the box.
One user tried connecting to PC, then tried connecting to their head unit again, and it worked!

@ap756 If people cannot connect to their head units, please ask them to connect to their computer first, then try replugging into their head unit. Thanks!

IMHO I can understand if the connection to the pc was a simple connection of the carbotics to a pc, even if with an android (via boot on usb).
But the procedure requires to use a Carlink wired adapter and I do not think that a normal user has this adapter at home, and I do not see a request for common sense to buy it by spending 46 € to carry out this test.
It makes more sense to ask for carbotics to be plugged into another car (which I did) but it didn't improve.

Carbotics needs wired CarPlay to get in contact. There is no (known to me) software driver/hardware for Windows PC to connect. Same for Android - no known software solution. Can't test it on a Mac (running an Apple CarPlay driver).
AFAIK the only possibility to run Carbotics and see the screen like in a head unit on a PC is to boot Android and use a dongle to "translate" CarPlay to Android.
Exception: Flashing Carbotics is possible on a Windows PC using a driver and appropriate software. But this is a bit dangerous and a no-go without some background knowledge.

Hola a todos, intento conectar el dispositivo al ordenador con Mirroid y no es posible. Se conecta y desconecta continuamente.
Alguna solución????

Por otro lado, he creado un acceso directo en el escritorio de una carpeta que deseo eliminar,sabe alguien como hacerlo?

The data transfer between Carbotics and any other hardware is established through Apple CarPlay. As you might know Mirroid relies on Android Auto. The only way I found until now is using a dongle designed to transport Carbotics data to Android (see first message in this thread). If you are a programmer or you know someone able to design a driver for the dongle I'm interested - for sure.
Carbotics launcher works as an Android Launcher. You'll find your way by long tipping on the folder to open the additional menu which allows to remove the folder. If this does not work for you you might install another launcher (like Nova) to make this working.
